Springtime is right around the corner and summer temps are officially back. As San Diego breaks free from its cold and dark hibernation (lol), there are plenty of ways to get out and have some fun.

Things To Do in San Diego: March 2022
Carlsbad Flower Fields
The 2022 season for the Carlsbad Flower Fields starts on March 1st! Go see some fine ass Giant Tecolote Ranunculus and prance around in a flower field with that special someone. I would recommend avoiding weekends if possible!
Beyond Van Gogh (Del Mar Fairgrounds)
This immersive art experience is finally heading out on March 6th. Make sure to buy your tickets if you’ve been procrastinating. Personally, I’ve heard mixed reviews on this, but everything I’ve seen on Instagram looks pretty cool.
Cherry Blossom Festival (Japanese Friendship Garden)
The wildly popular Cherry Blossom Festival is back again March 11-13th in Balboa Park. Put on your best basic bitch spring outfit and bring a nice camera… the trees are about to be POPPIN. Enjoy a beer and sake garden, live music, and a lot of other fun things throughout the weekend.
San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March 12th)
According to the organizers, this parade is the biggest one on the West Coast and it’s back after a one-year hiatus. Launching off around 5th and Laurel near Balboa Park, this parade has everything for families, individuals, and groups of friends who just want to drink some Guinness. Make sure you check out the street fair and beer garden after!
Pacific Beach St. Patrick’s Day Block Party and Pub Crawl
For a small fee, you can find yourself stumbling around PB in a drunken haze on St. Patrick’s Day (as if that’s different from any other weekend). Entry gets you a map of participating bars, discount drink coupons, a free welcome shot, and more. Sounds fun. Enjoy responsibly (please don’t drink and drive).
Gaslamp St. Patrick’s Day 4-Day Block Party and Pub Crawl
Not to be outdone by their northern neighbors, the Gaslamp area is throwing a 4 DAY pub crawl dedicated to our friends across the pond. Tickets looks pretty cheap and score you some similar perks as the PB Bar Crawl.
Bubble Run 2022 (Chula Vista)
If you enjoy running a 5k and love bubbles boy do I have the event for you. I guess the gist of this event is you doing your best impression of leaving a foam party in college… except outside with other people who actually want to be there. Sounds interesting. Check it out.
Hot Chocolate Run – 5k & 15k (Petco Park)
Yet another creative way to make people sign up for a 5k, the Hot Chocolate Run returns to San Diego on March 20th. You and your friends can go run around then sip some piping hot chocolate in the sun after your run. That won’t hurt your stomach at all.
TinyFest California (Del Mar Fairgrounds)
This is a new one I’ve never heard about. Apparently there’s going to be an entire festival dedicated to tiny homes, moveable homes, and RV living. I’m going to be honest… I’m not sure what $15 gets you, but it could be fun to scope out people’s tiny homes and hear about their lifestyle on the road.
Hillcrest First Thursday Art Night – March 3rd
Now this looks sick. From 5-10pm, Hillcrest will transform into an art-walk featuring live entertainment, DJs, mural art, performances, food, and more. If you’re bored on a Thursday or want to check out some cool art, this seems to be the move… and it’s FREE.
That concludes my list for now! If more things pop up, I’ll add them as they come. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy March 2022. Let’s get after it.
